Nikki gained a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy from Hertfordshire University in 2007.
Nikki went on to gain invaluable experience in the NHS working in a variety of areas from Orthpaedics, MSK Outpatients, Care of the Elderly , Stroke and Neuromuscular Rehabilitation, working her way to a Senior Physiotherapist. However, it was not long when Nikki combined her passion for physiotherapy with health and fitness, having worked previously as a personal trainer, to specialise in sports injuries. Nikki has worked for over six years in the private sector working with a variety of professionals from local GP's, specialist surgeons, podiatrists and nutritionists. Nikki's enthusiasm to treat sporting injuries led her to complete a post graduate certificate in Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy. This training gave Nikki an even greater depth of the complexities of pain following an injury and she can quickly ascertain, not only the source of the symptoms, but treats the underlying cause!
Over the years Nikki has worked very closely with Orthopaedic Consultants within Essex, during this time she gained extensive knowledge of the shoulder joint, pre and post rehabilitation following knee surgery and joint replacement therapy. Also within her current practice, Nikki treats pre and post natal women, the elderly too paediatrics, including members of the Essex Junior Squash Team. As well as amateur runners, to competitive cyclists, triathletes and marathon runners.
Nikki is dynamic and proactive in her approach to the recovery process. She utilises acupuncture, dry needling, as well as, many other therapeutic techniques to quickly resolve symptoms. In addition, Nikki spends time educating her patients on their biomechanics and movement dysfunctions. Nikki strongly believes an injury can be a positive experience, an opportunity to fine tune a person biomechanics and prevent reoccurrence. She achieves this through her knowledge of exercise prescription, empowering her patients to correct their biomechanics with exercises. This enables them to return to their activities, whether this may be a simple daily tasks, such as, walking too returning to a sport.
Outside of clinic Nikki is a keen runner and likes to play netball, up until four years ago playing competitively in both Chelmsford and Colchester, until she ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament. This has given Nikki invaluable insight of the personal difficulties incurred from a sporting injury, enhancing her ability to meet her clients expectations and goals.
Nikki continues to develop her skills and knowledge attending courses and frequently reviewing research, often referred to by her colleagues as a 'book work'! Nikki feels it is imperative to not only look at the injury but the aspirations and ambitions of her patients, treating them as a whole. Nikki herself has set some goals, committing to run the Colchester Half Marathon next year and the London 2020 Marathon!Click here for Book an Appointment
